BAR EXAMINATION
Type of Bar Exam
The Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), created by the National Conference of Bar Examiners, is administered beginning with the February, 2019, administration.
Exam Components
The UBE consists of: (1) The Multistate Essay Exam; (2) The Multistate Bar Exam Multiple Choice; (3) The Multistate Performance Test.
State Specific Components
As of the time of publication, Alabama requires completion of an online course on Alabama law. This is completed after the applicant has taken the UBE.
Subjects Tested
Areas of law that may be covered on the exam include the following: Business Associations (Agency and Partnership; Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), Civil Procedure, Conflict of Laws, Constitutional Law, Contracts (including Article 2 [Sales] of the Uniform Commercial Code), Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Family Law, Real Property, Torts, Trusts and Estates (Decedents' Estates; Trusts and Future Interests), and Article 9 (Secured Transactions) of the Uniform Commercial Code.
